The Tombo Chromatic Single S-50 harmonica is an uncommon model. While most chromatic models come without a slide, you'll find one here. The S-50 has three octaves spanning C1 to C4 and each of the 44 notes has an independent hole and reed, making this instrument a perfect step up for serious beginners or as an addition to a harmonica-driven band. The big plus here is that notes can be bent or overblown: unique for a chromatic model.

The Single S-50: Two Rows

The 44 notes are split over two rows. The bottom row is tuned to the C-major scale while the upper row serves the half-note, C#-major scale, much like the black and white key layout of a piano. A special detail is the placement of the E# and B# on the top row. The blown edge of the S-50 harmonica has a subtle curve so that blowing into an unintended row is prevented when the instrument is played with a slight tilt. This means that every individual note can be played and therefore, any melody.
